Padre Pio lived a long life, fifty years of which he carried the stigmata wounds of Christ. He died in September 1968,and this means he lived in the 20th Century. He was canonized on fathers day of June 2002 in the Vatican City ceremonies which I watched On cable television. Even before he was declared a saint, Padre Pio who was made blessed, has been a constant guide, inspiration, brother and intercessor to me, our family and of my clients who were charged with various criminal cases or have problems in their marriage.

Let me share with you how I got to experience the intercession of Padre Pio in clients who have legal problems.

In the late 1990s, a client who was charged with estafa introduced to me to pray to Padre Pio for intercession. The client asked me to accompany him to the bank in Manila wherein he and this two (2) complainants agreed to meet for the settlement of their case and sign a compromise agreement. We waited at the bank at the appointed time. None of the complainants appeared. He suggested then that we go to the offices of the two complainants. We went to the office of the first complainant who willingly signed the compromise agreement. We then went to the office of the second complainant. The second complainant did not want to talk to my client, as he was furious and angry and did not want to sign the compromise agreement. My client then asked me to join him in prayer for the intercession of Padre Pio in his case. He lead the prayer and I joined him in prayer asking Padre Pio to talk to the guardian angel of that angry complainant. He asked for a change of heart and forgiveness.

We prayed for about ten to fifteen minutes outside this complainants office. Thereafter, I was surprised to see this guy come out of his office with a different mood, as he was no longer angry, and he asked me for the compromise agreement as he was now willing to sign the compromise agreement. The compromise agreement was signed and the case was settled.

That was an amazing turnaround of attitude. That convinced me that henceforth, I shall introduce Padre Pio to every client who is in need of intercession.

Since then, clients who asked Padre Pio to intercede in their cases had their cases Resolved.

The cases are resolved in Gods time. Some are resolved in one or two years time depending on the nature of the case.

In instances wherein the client does not believe in saints, I ask the client to talk to Padre Pio like a brother.

There was a married couple that I introduced to Padre Pio.

The wife wanted to have her marriage annulled as her husband would regularly beat her up. I asked the couple to pray to Padre Pio for intercession in their married life. After a couple of weeks, the couple stopped calling me, so I called them up for an update.

They told me that they have reconciled their differences as a couple. The husband stopped beating up his wife. He voluntarily went to counseling. He asked for his wife’s forgiveness. She in turn asked for patience, understanding, support, love, affection and forgiveness, for whatever hurtful words she said to him. They are still happily married.

The marriage needs a spiritual dimension, we need to pray for each other. We need to forgive one another.

There was a client who was wrongly charged with frustrated homicide. I asked him to pray for Padre Pio’s intercession. The case ran for two years as the complainant presented his evidence, thereafter my client who was one of the two accused , presented his defenses. The other accused also presented his evidence. Both accused were acquitted.

St. Padre Pio taught us to talk to our guardian angels, to the guardian angels of other persons, who talk to their assigned persons to be forgiving, to have a change of heart, To listen, to turn back to God, to pray and to reach out to others.

I had a dream that SOME Day I may get a chance to visit Giovanni Rotondo , Italy where Padre Pio lived as monk, as a priest who obediently said mass, heard confessions, Suffered the pains of the wounds of Christ, to thank him as I have thanked him over the years for making a difference in our lives and in the lives of my clients and their families.

Talk to Padre Pio, talk to your guardian angel, thank God for all the blessings and graces He has showered upon us. Start of with thanking Him that we are alive to serve Him through serving others. In Metro Manila, there is the Greenbelt Chapel, that has the picture of Padre Pio. There is also the capilla of Padre Pio in Batangas, as you leave the Calamba exit of the South Expressway. Have a reflective Sunday and a prayerful life ahead.

“Talk to Padre Pio, talk to your guardian angel, thank God for all the blessings and graces He has showered upon us.
